RECONSTRUCTION

RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY

The board-certified specialist for plastic and aesthetic surgery: More than "just beauty".

In addition to our work as plastic and aesthetic surgeons at JJPS, we both also work in parallel as senior attending physicians at the renowned Charité University Hospital in Berlin, where we help women particularly in the field of breast reconstruction after breast cancer.

In addition, in our many years as senior physicians at large clinics, we have performed the field of plastic reconstructive surgery, i.e. reconstruction in its entire range and also represented it scientifically and at lectures and congresses.

Plastic reconstructive surgery becomes necessary when the form and function of the body must be restored or reconstructed. This is usually the case after an accident, a cancer operation or in the case of congenital malformations. Plastic reconstructive surgeons correct skin and soft tissues, muscles, tendons and peripheral nerves, as well as bones and cartilage. They restore functions to the limbs including the hands, as well as facial expressions. This is what is fascinating about this particular field of surgery: the diversity, complexity and interdisciplinary surgical approach across organ systems.

Even severed limbs can be successfully reattached, for example after accidents or cancer. Using a microscope and extremely small instruments, the plastic surgeon can even repair individual nerve fibers. Torn nerve cords can be sewn back together even a long time after an accident and can then slowly regenerate. In this way, even paralysis and loss of sensibility can often still be successfully treated by microsurgery or with so-called replacement operations.

The reconstructive fields also includes the removal of benign or malignant skin or soft tissue tumors as well as gender reassignment surgery for transgender individuals. One of the most common and now standardized procedures continues to be breast reconstruction using the patient's own tissue after breast cancer surgery.

With JJPS and our parallel clinical activities, we have fulfilled a personal heart's desire: Aesthetic medicine and reconstructive surgery at the highest level - the best of both worlds.

SCAR CORRECTIONS

Scars are caused by different types of trauma, most commonly after accidents or burns. But even after a surgical procedure, wounds sometimes do not heal optimally and conspicuous and bulging scars form in visible areas, which affected persons experience as aesthetic blemishes..

HAND SURGERY

The function of the hand is characterized by a diverse interaction of various anatomical structures in a very small space.

In addition to its function as a gripping organ, the hand is used for communication through gestures and motions and as a sensory organ for touching and gripping...

TRANSGENDER /
NON-BINARY

Being trans itself has many facets and living conditions cannot simply be reduced to the discrepancy between external sexual characteristics and the gender assigned at birth. The needs of trans and nonbinary people extend to many other areas of life than the merely physical. Nevertheless, various surgical procedures can help to better harmonize the external appearance with one's own physical experience.
