FOREHEAD LIFT,
BROW LIFT,
TEMPLE LIFT
The forehead and eyebrows form the upper third of an aesthetically pleasing face. The aging process of the face often begins right here: In the area of the forehead and temples, and is reflected in sagging skin areas, so that the side eyebrows appear sunken. Likewise, the number of mimic and firm wrinkles increases.
Dynamic wrinkles - i.e. those that become visible with mimic movement - as well as the beginning of firm wrinkles in the forehead area are the preferred area of application for botulinum toxin. Deep, static wrinkles can sometimes be positively influenced with fillers, but they are already scars in the skin and are therefore visible even without facial expressions. If this is the case, a redistribution of the facial skin using a small lifting procedure can bring long-term rejuvenation. In addition to lifting the lateral eyebrow, deep wrinkles can be reduced and their course also lifted. Although these interventions tend to be smaller overall, they have a significant impact on the overall appearance of the face, and you immediately get more vitality and freshness in your eyes. These small interventions are also popular because the scars are almost invisible thanks to the concealed incisions.
Preparation
These liftings can be done under local anesthesia, possibly supplemented by sedation. The procedure itself takes about 45 minutes. During the consultation, we will discuss with you your ideas about the future harmony of your face, the position of your eyebrows and the condition of your skin. Based on this, we work with you to develop a suitable, comprehensible treatment plan. Depending on the findings, a combination of non-surgical and surgical procedures (chemical peels, laser, connection with a facelift, neck lift) can be useful. Before a brow or forehead lift, you should not take any blood-thinning medication for about 14 days before the operation and you should refrain from smoking. We will also discuss further details in our consultation hours.
Technique
Depending on the extent of the area to be tightened or lifted, the operation is carried out via a small lateral skin incision, about 3 cm behind the beginning of the hair-bearing scalp on both sides, so that the scars are later almost invisible. The cut involves cutting strictly from the side in order not to disturb the hair follicle (the envelope of the hair root) and thus hair growth. The tissue under the skin is carefully loosened with small incisions and pushed backwards or upwards in order to achieve the desired sustainable tightening effect. We fixthe so-called temporalis fascia under the skin with stable sutures. The excess skin is then removed and the wound hidden within the hairy scalp is carefully closed. In addition to removing the sagging skin, the eyebrows are raised from above. This opens up the view and at the same time dramatically rejuvenates it.
In the case of strong, dark and dense eyebrows, it is also possible to remove a strip of skin at the upper edge of the eyebrow.
In the case of extensive excess skin and extremely sunken eyebrows, an additional forehead lift may be necessary. For this purpose, a continuous cut, adapted to the existing hairline, is made.
In addition to the brow or temple lift, another cheek lift and neck lift or eyelid lift is often desired. Such combinations are unproblematic and therefore quite common. As part of our consultation, we will discuss options with you that may come into consideration for you. Our main focus is always on achieving a natural and lasting result with the techniques in question.
Costs
Depending on the type and complexity of the operation, the costs for the procedure amount to approx. 2.800 euros.
Risks
The risks of eyebrow and forehead lifts are manageable when performed by an experienced plastic and cosmetic surgeon who is familiar with facial anatomy. In addition to general surgical risks such as postoperative bleeding, bruising and swelling, sensory disturbances in the area of the forehead and eyebrows can very rarely occur, which almost always go away on their own after a short time. As with any operation, nerves can be injured and hair loss in the area of the scars and asymmetries can occur.
Aftercare
After the procedure, you will stay in our practice for approx. 2-3 hours for monitoring. Local cooling is used to reduce swelling as much as possible. Small wound drains may be inserted, which we remove the following day together with the forehead bandage. The sutures are also removed in the practice after 7-14 days. It is important that you take it easy for about a week after the operation, you should avoid sport for at least 14 days. Depending on the tendency to swell and any bruising, you will be socially presentable again after 5-7 days, especially since the surgical area can be covered with a headband and possibly sunglasses. After the procedure, smoking should be avoided for at least another 14 days.
Are there reasonable alternatives to surgery?
Yes, and to a large extent: In addition to the non-invasive methods that are frequently used, such as botulinum toxin and fillers, thread lifting has also developed into a frequently used, pain-free alternative in aesthetic facial treatment. It is important to select the options for facial rejuvenation sensibly and, if necessary, to combine them. It is advisable to visit a specialist practice for plastic and aesthetic surgery that offers non-invasive as well as invasive techniques and will find the most suitable combination for you. The operations mentioned here differ from the minimally invasive procedures primarily in their sustainability. Even after surgery, people continue to be subject to natural aging conditions and environmental influences. However, the lifted areas remain younger and firmer in appearance in relation to the non-operated areas of your body.
