UPPER ARM LIFT
Many people want smooth, slim and defined upper arms. Due to an age-related loss of elasticity of the skin, great weight loss and also individual genetic predisposition, many people develop excess soft tissue on the upper arms called “angel wings”, which sag down due to gravity when the arms are spread out. Even intensive sport cannot remedy this. The solution is the combination of liposuction with superficial removal of excess skin. In this way, the arm circumference is reduced and the skin is tightened at the same time: This avoids large wound areas and protects blood and lymphatic vessels. This procedure reduces the side effect profile for wound healing disorders and the procedure is more gentle overall. Depending on the extent of the excess skin, the incision required for the tightening is placed in the armpit or on the inside of the upper arm. As a result, the course of the scar is placed inconspicuously and is invisible when the arms are folded.
Preparation
Precise planning of the incision and the areas to be suctioned is important.
Before an upper arm lift, you must not take any blood-thinning medication for at least 14 days before the procedure and you should refrain from smoking. There are also some contraindications that we will discuss with you in detail during the preliminary talk.
Technique
The procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis in about 60 to 90 minutes under local anesthesia and twilight sleep (sedation) or under general anesthesia so that it is painless. The exact surgical plan is drawn in beforehand. The excess fatty tissue is then gently suctioned off in order to be able to tighten the skin that has now been emptied. The wound is closed with strong threads in depth, the skin over it is sutured very finely to make the scar as inconspicuous as possible. It lies unobtrusively in the armpit or the inner side of the upper arm and fades over time. When the arm is raised, it is not visible.
In order to be able to drain wound secretion, a drainage is inserted on both sides, which can usually be removed after 2-3 days. Initially, a compression bandage is applied and replaced after two days with a special compression garment.
Costs & Financing
The costs for an upper arm lift vary depending on the complexity involved and are made up of the surgical procedure, the material, the anesthesia and the final examinations. The costs start at 4.500 Euros, depending on the duration of the operation and combinations with other procedures.
Risks
The procedure is a routine operation within plastic surgery. Nevertheless, there are risks such as postoperative bleeding, wound healing disorders or unsightly scars that may need correction later.
Smokers have an increased risk of wound healing disorders and other problems. We therefore strongly recommend that you refrain from smoking for at least four to six weeks before and after the operation.
Aftercare
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis. After a few hours, during which you have recovered a little in our recovery room and a final examination by the surgeon, you can return home. In all cases, you will receive the operator's mobile phone number.
After the operation, sports and heavy loads must be avoided for six weeks. During this time, a special compression garnment is worn day and night. The first check is made after 2-3 days. Further follow-up checks follow. Since we work with self-dissolving sutures, there is no need for removal. Sauna sessions or bathing should be avoided for two to three months. The scar is fine and with the right care, it fades quickly and is later almost invisible.
The procedure can easily be combined with other tightening operations.
