CHIN CORRECTION
Ideally, when looking at the head from the side perspective, i.e. the profile view, the chin and forehead should be in line. But as is often the case in life, desire and reality sometimes diverge widely. In the case of a so-called "receding chin", the front edge of the lower jaw lies further back and thus ensures a visually rather disadvantageous profile. Many men wish for just a prominent shape of the chin region. The rather widespread tendency to a double chin stands in the way of this desire. However, both shape problems can be remedied with minor surgeries. In most cases, complex surgery on the lower jaw can be avoided.
For example, a simple double chin can be reduced easily and without great risk with injection lipolysis . If more pronounced, surgical liposuction could also be considered. Nowadays, the chin structure and the chin-jaw line can be easily and minimally invasively shaped in a masculine way with filler materials and positively changed. Alternatively, for permanent optical lengthening, a special silicone implant can be inserted through a small incision in the oral cavity. A significant improvement of the lateral chin projection and size can thus be achieved with a small surgery.
Preparation
Before the procedure, the chin configuration is analyzed in detail with photo documentation, on the basis of which the individual chin correction plan is drawn up. It is important that you do not take any blood-thinning medication for at least 14 days before the day of the operation. You should also refrain from smoking during this period. There are a few contraindications for this procedure, which we will inform you about in detail during the preparatory discussion.
Technique
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, if necessary supplemented by a sedation, so that it is painless for you. First, the liposuction for contouring is carried out, with planned implant enlargement of the chin, this special silicone implant is inserted through a small incision in the oral cavity without external scars. Duration of the operation: Approx. 60 minutes.
Costs & Financing
The costs of a chin correction are made up of the surgical procedure, the material, the implant costs, the anesthesia and the final examinations. The approximate costs start at 2,400 Euros, depending on the complexity involved and combinations with other processes.
Risks

In the hands of experienced surgeons, surgical chin corrections are an effective method of optimizing the lower face profile. As with all operations, complications such as bleeding, bruising or wound healing disorders can rarely occur.

Postoperative pain can be treated well with painkillers. Prolonged numbness in the chin area is rare.
Aftercare
The duration of the surgery is about 60-90 minutes. After a recovery phase in our recovery room (duration approx. 4-6 hours) and after a final check, you can return home. In any case, you will get the cell phone number of the surgeon, whom you can contact directly if problems arise after the operation. It is important to wear a special compression bandage for 4-7 days that should not be removed. Direct pressure on the chin area should be avoided at all costs. On the day of the surgery itself, we recommend limited bed rest at home with your head elevated. Two days later, there will be a check-up appointment at our practice. You have to refrain from sports or heavy physical exertion for four weeks in order to keep your blood pressure low and to minimize the risk of postoperative bleeding. Heavy chewing should also be avoided for 2-3 weeks.
Most of the time you are fully socially acceptable after a week. The threads in the mouth are self-dissolving. In the course of the first six months, a series of follow-up checks are carried out in our practice.
