PRP THERAPY AGAINST HAIR LOSS

Every day we lose around 100 hairs, this is completely normal and shouldn't be a cause for concern. The lifespan of every hair is limited, at some point it simply stops growing and eventually falls out. A new hair then quickly develops from the hair root, the so-called follicle.

However, if more hair is lost or does not grow back as easily, one must speak of hair loss. There are many reasons for hair loss and it always starts with researching the causes in order to treat them in a targeted and meaningful way.

TREATMENT

First and foremost is the so-called androgenetic hair loss, i.e. a genetic predisposition that leads to increased hormone sensitivity of the hair roots. Thinning and sparse hair often occurs at a young age, especially in the crown area and increasingly thins backwards and sideways. Furthermore, diffuse hair loss can be hormonal and therefore also stress-related. Examples of this are changes in the hormonal balance such as around pregnancy or by stopping or changing hormone preparations (such as the birth control pill).

Furthermore, thyroid diseases and iron deficiency can often be the cause.
When you come to see us, we will find out exactly what this means and, if necessary, carry out blood tests in order to provide you with targeted and individual help.

A method that helps against stress- and age-related hair loss in a completely natural way and without the use of hormone preparations is treatment with endogenous plasma (PRP).

Procedure

Before the treatment, blood is taken from you in a conventional manner, about 10-30ml and this blood is processed by gentle centrifugation and about 5-15ml PRP is obtained.

Centrifugal forces are used to separate the red and white blood cells from the liquid parts. It is precisely this liquid part that is the thrombocyte (or platelet) - rich plasma, which is obtained by mere physics and without the addition of other foreign substances. Depending on the application and individual therapy planning, the PRP is then injected with a fine needle into the areas to be treated. We use a special local anesthetic beforehand to make the small punctures as painless as possible.

Technical: Platelet-rich plasma

The platelet-rich plasma contains your own growth factors and proteins in high concentrations, which then achieve a strong regenerative effect in high doses locally.

There are six important factors to be mentioned here, which help with cell renewal, stimulate cell growth of connective tissue cells, stimulate collagen production and induce the formation of new blood vessels, which optimizes local blood circulation.

  1. TGF-beta (Transforming Growth Factor) promotes cell growth and the formation of new blood vessels

  2. PDGF-AB (Platelet-derived Growth Factor) stimulates cell growth

  3. bFGF (Fibroblast Growth Factor) stimulates the connective tissue cells (so-called fibroblasts) to produce collagen, among other things

  4. IGF (insulin-like growth factor) promotes collagen synthesis even more, cell division (proliferation) and renewal and the migration and cross-linking of connective tissue cells (fibroblast migration)

  5. EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) promotes the formation of new blood vessels, regulates the regeneration of the intercellular spaces and also stimulates the connective tissue cells

  6. VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) stimulates endothelial cell proliferation and migration, i.e. the inner lining of our blood vessels

Sounds too complicated? Just come by for an appointment, we will explain it to you in detail and find the optimal and holistic solution.

Costs

For an optimal result, about 3-6 sessions are required at intervals of 4-8 weeks. There is a simple reason for this: all cells are in different growth phases, and the interval treatment means that as many cells as possible are treated in their growth phase and thus benefit from the influence of PRP.

The PRP treatment costs 350 euros for the first session, any additional session ist 300 euros.

Risks

Treatment with PRP is basically very low-risk and well tolerated, especially since no exogenous substances are used. Side effects primarily include slight swelling and redness, which usually disappear after 12-24 hours without a trace. As with all injections, there is a minimal risk of infection, but the area to be treated is extensively disinfected and highly sterile beforehand, which tends to make infections an almost negligible side effect.

Aftercare

There are no long downtimes with this type of treatment, the recovery process does not last longer than max. 24 hours. After the injections, activities such as sports and sauna (sweating!) and swimming (contact with bacteria) should be avoided for about a day.
