Before founding JJPS and our parallel work at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin, we were both senior physicians and deputy chief physicians in management positions at renowned plastic surgery centers in Berlin for many years, published scientific papers and are both full members of the German Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (DGPRÄC).

WHAT IS A SPECIALIST IN PLASTIC AND AESTHETIC SURGERY ?
Plastic surgery is a special discipline within surgery dedicated to shape-changing and reconstructive procedures on the body. These shape changes are performed for functional and aesthetic reasons, whereby the surgical techniques are similar and the transition between plastic-reconstructive and plastic-aesthetic surgery is often fluid.
An important note at this point: The specialist in plastic and aesthetic surgery is - unlike the term cosmetic surgeon or doctor in aesthetic medicine - protected and a decisive criterion when choosing your practitioner. The self-designation as a cosmetic surgeon, doctor for aesthetic medicine or similar is legally permissible in Germany, but the necessary skills for the high-quality practice of plastic-aesthetic surgery can only be acquired within the framework of many years of specialist training.
This path to specialist competence, i.e. permission to carry the specialist title “Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon” takes at least 12 years: After six years of medical studies, at least six years of further training begin in all four pillars of this complex and interdisciplinary subject with defined training sections in aesthetics, reconstruction but also in burn and hand surgery.

SOMETHING FOR ME?
Never has the reflection on "self-care" been more pronounced than in today's world - at the same time, the offer in the age of self-optimization is overflowing and can quickly overwhelm. Self-optimization is rightly a controversial topic, because:
Is everything that “optimizes” me also necessarily good?
Pure physical self-optimization does not correspond to our philosophy at JJPS. From our point of view, the treatment goal should rather be an "enhancement", i.e. the responsible improvement of the well-being of a patient - physically and mentally. Aesthetic medicine and anti-aging can be a small building block in this process, but can never fundamentally change a life - anyone who tries to do this this will fail, because happiness and contentment are a process of knowledge and cognition and not a treatment result. Aesthetic medicine is therefore a stylistic device to feel more comfortable in your own body or to influence traces of aging for oneself - no more and no less.
