BULLHORN LIFTING
This small procedure has become increasingly popular in recent years, as it can be used to visually rejuvenate the lower face and at the same time effectively emphasize the upper lip.
As we get older, the distance between the nose and upper lip increases. This is a typical "stigma" of the aging face and is reinforced by the simultaneous loss of volume in the upper lip.
With the bullhorn lift (the drawing of this narrow stripe is reminiscent of the bull's horn - hence the unusual name) we achieve a rejuvenation of the lower part of the face by removing a previously precisely drawn area of skin directly under the nose. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia. During this operation, we place the filigree incision exactly in the naturally curved skin split lines. Therefore, the intervention must be performed with magnifying glasses. The wound is then sutured very finely in several layers. The course of the suture linelies in the natural fold of the side nostrils or in the front nostrils, so that the remaining scars are practically invisible.
The shortening of the skin on the upper lip also causes the red of the upper lip to rise, which is additionally accentuated and is a desirable side effect of the Bullhorn lift. This small but effective procedure is often referred to as a lip lift.
Preparation
Before the procedure, a detailed and comprehensible facial analysis with photo documentation is carried out together. It is important that you do not take any blood-thinning medication for at least 14 days before the day of the surgery. You should also refrain from smoking during this period. There are also a few contraindications that we will discuss honestly and in detail when we get to know each other personally.
Technique
The procedure itself can easily be carried out under a gentle local anaesthetic, possibly supplemented by sedation, so that it is absolutely pain-free for you. If desired, general anesthesia is of course also possible. Before the procedure, the exact surgical plan is drawn in and then the previously marked area is prepared and removed very precisely. Overall, this procedure takes no longer than 30 minutes. By placing the incisions in the folds of the nostrils and nostrils, almost no visible scars remain after the surgery. The final result is already visible after a few days. Any swelling or bruising that may occur may sometimes take two to three weeks to subside.
Costs & Financing
The costs of a Bullhorn lift are made up of the surgical procedure, the material, the anesthetic and the final examinations. The costs start at 2,000 euros, depending on possible combinations with other procedures.
Risks
For experienced specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery, the Bullhorn lift is a small, very safe procedure with a great effect on the facial contours. Mild pain can be treated well with painkillers, while swelling and bruising almost always go away on their own within a few days. As with any operation, infections and wound healing disorders can occur in rare cases.
Aftercare
Since the duration of the operation is relatively short, you can usually return home after about 2-3 hours and the final check by the surgeon. On the day of the surgery itself, we recommend limited bed rest at home with your head elevated. After a week, there will be a check-up appointment at our practice. Until then, you should refrain from sports or heavy physical exertion in order to keep your blood pressure low and to minimize the risk of bleeding. In addition, you should switch to a soft diet for two to three days and take care not to mechanically irritate the sutures when brushing your teeth. The head should be slightly elevated. Most of the time you are fully socially acceptable the next day. You should only refrain from intensive chewing for another week. The superficial suture is removed after 7-8 days in the practice.
Are there reasonable alternatives to surgery?
The face can be modeled in different ways, minimally invasive and surgical. A combination of several methods is often the best concept. During our consultation, we work with you to find the optimal procedure for you, with which we can help you get the face you want.
